Homélies de Dom Armand Veilleux

September 6, 2024 - Friday of the 22nd week, even numbered

1 Cor 4, 1-5; Luke 5, 33-39

Homily

The Gospels of recent weeks have described the beginnings of Jesus' missionary activity. The young rabbi and his disciples were already beginning to amaze everyone. Of course, people have begun to realise that Jesus has come to bring something new. His miracles, his teaching, the power he claimed to have to forgive sins - all this was causing a stir throughout Galilee. Everyone wanted to see and hear him.

5 septembre 2024 - jeudi de la 22ème semaine paire

1Co 3, 18-23 ; Lc 5, 1-11

H O M É L I E

3 September 2024 - Tuesday of the 22nd even-numbered week

1 Cor 2, 10-16; Luke 4, 31-37

Homily

Jesus' activity in the Gospel often reminds us that true “power” lies not in the one who has strength and uses it to crush, but in the one who knows how to forgive and not respond to violence with violence.

5 September 2024 - Thursday of the 22nd even week

1 Cor 3:18-23; Lk 5:1-11

Homily

‘Leaving everything, they followed him’. This last sentence obviously gives us the key to understanding the Gospel passage we have just heard. We cannot be attached to Jesus without detaching ourselves from everything else. We cannot follow him without abandoning everything that might hold us back elsewhere. Luke, at the beginning of his Gospel, wants to show how the Apostles, and Peter in particular, made this radical break.

1 septembre 2024 - 22ème dimanche "B"

H O M É L I E

1 September 2024 - 22nd Sunday "B"

Deut 4:1-2, 6-8; Jas 1:17-18, 21b-22, 27; Mk 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

Homily

Each of the three readings we have just heard invites us to listen to the Word of God and to let it bear fruit in us.
