Love of neighbor is central to Jesus' message. And when we think of love or charity, we think of unity. So it is not without surprise, even shock, that we hear Jesus tell us that He did not come to bring peace to the earth, but fire and division.

Nous devons être prêts - non pas parce que la mort peut nous visiter à chaque instant ; non pas parce que la fin du monde peut survenir à chaque instant. Nous devons être prêts pour l'arrivée du Seigneur car il vient toujours. Il est l'Emmanuel, qui est toujours avec nous, car il vient toujours nous visiter.

19 October 2025 - 29th Sunday "C

Ex 17:8-13; 2 Tim 3:14-4:2; Lk 18:1-8

Homily

We have two important characters in this parable: on the one hand, a judge who does not fear God and has no regard for anyone; on the other hand, a widow who is weak, but who is convinced of her rights and is determined to assert them. In the end, the judge gives the widow what she asks for, simply so that she will stop bothering him.

Homily

We must be ready—not because death can come upon us at any moment; not because the end of the world can come at any moment. We must be ready for the coming of the Lord because He is always coming. He is Emmanuel, who is always with us, because He always comes to visit us.

          Dans l'Évangile, nous avons deux versions de l'envoi en mission par Jésus: la première, commune aux trois Évangiles synoptiques, s'adresse aux douze Apôtres; l'autre, plus longue, que nous venons de lire, et qui est propre à Luc, s'adresse aux soixante-douze disciples.

Ex 17, 8-13 ; 2 Tm 3, 14-4, 2 ; Lc 18, 1-8

H O M É L I E

Nous avons deux personnages importants dans cette parabole : d’une part un juge qui ne craint pas Dieu et n’a d’égards pour personne ; d’autre part une veuve qui est faible, mais qui est convaincue de ses droits et est décidée de les faire valoir. À la fin, le juge donne à la veuve ce qu’elle demande, tout simplement pour qu’elle cesse de venir l’importuner.

          In the Gospel, we have two versions of Jesus' sending out on mission: the first, common to the three synoptic Gospels, is addressed to the twelve Apostles; the other, longer version, which we have just read and which is specific to Luke, is addressed to the seventy-two disciples.
