20 septembre 2025 – Samedi de la 24ème semaine ordinaire

1 Tm 6,13-16 ; Luc 8, 4-15

Homélie

          L’agriculture ou le jardinage peuvent être une bonne école de patience, de confiance et d’abandon. Une fois qu’on a travaillé le sol, qu’on y a déposé les semences et qu’on l’a arrosé, on n’a plus qu’à attendre avec patience. Durant un premier temps il n’y a aucun moyen de savoir de façon certaine si la semence croîtra ou non. Ensuite on ne peut savoir dans quelle mesure elle croîtra. On peut agir de diverses manières sur les conditions qui favorisent la croissance, mais on ne peut intervenir aucunement dans le processus même de croissance. Gardant tout ceci présent à l’esprit, revenons maintenant à la lecture de l’Évangile d’aujourd’hui.

Homily

Farming or gardening can be a good lesson in patience, trust, and letting go. Once you have worked the soil, planted the seeds, and watered them, all you can do is wait patiently. At first, there is no way to know for sure whether the seeds will grow or not. Then you cannot know to what extent they will grow. You can influence the conditions that promote growth in various ways, but you cannot intervene in the growth process itself. With all this in mind, let us now return to today's Gospel reading.

1 Tim 6, 2-12 ; Luc 8, 1-3

          Ces trois petits versets, qui semblent un peu anodins nous apportent beaucoup de lumière sur le ministère de Jésus et sur le style de vie adopté avec ses disciples, Ce style de vie n’a pas grand chose en commun ni avec les écoles rabbiniques du temps où des disciples pouvaient se réunir autour d’un maître pour recevoir une formation, mais dans un endroit précis, et sans participer à la mission du maître. Il était aussi différent de celui des prophètes de l’Ancien Testament qui pouvaient bien avoir un disciple ou l’autre (comme, p.e., Élisée, le disciple d’Élie) mais pas un groupe voyageant avec lui.

1 Tim 6:2-12; Luke 8:1-3

Homily

These three short verses, which seem somewhat innocuous, shed a great deal of light on Jesus' ministry and the lifestyle he adopted with his disciples. This lifestyle had little in common with the rabbinical schools of the time, where disciples could gather around a teacher to receive training, but in a specific place and without participating in the teacher's mission. It was also different from that of the prophets of the Old Testament, who may have had one or two disciples (such as Elisha, Elijah's disciple), but not a group travelling with them.
